why police office is built at siraituruk...

I write this for commemorating the very
massive action against indorayon,
nopember 2002, where the police
district of tobasa detained me with
some friends.

finally district police built an
office at the triangle of siraituruk
street . every day, it can be seen the
police in charge about 2 or 3 persons
per day stand by. there is no other
consideration instead of tackling and
controlling the very small number of
settlers in the sub village of
siraituruk.

Simpang siraituruk, is a sub village
of desa siraituruk. the settlers
population is arround 20 to 25 house
holders or arround 40 to 50 persons.
eventhough less people there, but the
triangle has many story of
people struggle there.the place has been
taken such as center of collecting
masses ,logging blocade, stand banners,
and place to sounding the peasant
demands.

counted some of the stories,the
triangle simpang siraituruk has become
the background of a movie project created by
ratna sarumpaet, a place of
international earth day, celebrated by
hundreds NGO and grass roots
organisation coordinated by friends
of the earth national committe.

the sticky one, when the religion
leaders from christian, chatholic, and
muslim organized a praying at simpang
siraituruk triangle in 2003. with the
very dishonest and embarrashed manner,
many truck loggers stop the praying
process guarded by the police and
brimob.
all the occasion can be taken to
account as the reasons of police to
build the branch office in the triangle.
normally, police office was built one
in every sub district called kapolsek.
but it can be seen that there are many
police offices arround sub district of
porsea.

the police office, kapolsek porsea,
actually standing at the frontier of
porsea and sub district sigumpar,
arround 1 km from simpang siraituruk
where I was detained in nov 2002. they
saw it quiet far and ineffective.
besi des the police also gets another
benefits.

Now, everyday, the branch aims huge of
money from every truck loggers passed
through the street. Each truck driver
shakes the hands of the police with
some money inside. the branch fastly
becomes the very "wet table" for every
chair of kapolsek there. imagine how
much money they can raise from
hundreds truck passing the street of
siraituruk every day, noon and night.

briefly, it is the miniatur of how
development operates in indonesia. who
are benefiting from the development,
then where the peasant again and again
becomes the victims of the development
it self.

to build new branch of police office
near by the people settlement, neither
subjected to protect the people nor
given the joy to the people to work.

the standing new police office emerges
the daily anxiety and embarrashing to
the people arround siraituruk.
disturbing their sleep every night,
and smelt sense of fear day by day.

development brings the anxiety, fear,
and poverty to the people. it is the
reality of the chosen paradigm,
developmentalism driven by neo
capitalism. the era where the peasant
has no space, where the peasant must
be cleaned, and not been counted as a
part of the word of development, where
the peasant sent to the grief.

my big passion to whom detanied, killed
and harrashed as long the indorayon
cases.my deep simpathy for the dead of
peasant.......
